Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma greeted children on the occasion of Children’s Day on Monday.

CM Sarma Tweeted, “The future of our great nation rests on the shoulders of our children. Their boundless energy, inquisitiveness & hunger for knowledge will lead Bharat to become a global powerhouse. #Children’s DayI would like every child to realize their dreams or wishes.”

Every year since 1964, 14 November is celebrated as Children’s Day.

This day coincides with the birth anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was very fond of children and whenever he had free time, he spent time with them. Children also called him ‘Chacha Nehru’, so from the year 1964, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s birthday was celebrated as Children’s Day.
