Guwahati (Assam) [India]November 15 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday inaugurated several new facilities at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital.
They include the new 850-seat auditorium, principal’s house, guest house, boys’ dormitory, and nurses’ quarters in the building.
Notably, Guwahati’s government-run Medical College and Hospital has been at the forefront of the fight against Covid-19 and has served lakhs of patients in the past two years.
The Chief Minister of Assam said that as part of the Assam government’s initiative to transform the Guwahati Medical College & Hospital, an 850-seat auditorium has been constructed at a cost of Rs 6 crore with the support of Oil India Limited and 165- Vishram Sadan beds (participants). Guest house) of Rs 13 crore from Power Grid Corporation of India.
While the principal’s residence cost Rs 2 crore, the boys’ hostel cost Rs 11 crore and the nursing home cost Rs 3.32 crore.
The opening ceremony was also attended by the state health minister Keshab Mahanta, head of GMCH Dr Abhiit Sarma and many other government officials. (ANI)
