Elephant trekking in the World Heritage Site, Kaziranga National Park (KNP) in Assam resumed on Wednesday (November 2).

Elephant trekking has been launched for tourists in Kaziranga National Park in the west, Bagori, Kaziranga and Kohora.

Notably, the elephant safari traditionally opens to tourists on November 1 every year but this time it was delayed due to bad weather.

10 elephants from the department have been prepared for the tourists, and medical examination has been done on 25 privately owned elephants in the Bagri forest area.

Tourists can enjoy elephant safari in two trips from 5.30 am to 7.30 am daily.

The Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve (KNPTR), famous for the one-horned rhinoceros, was officially opened for tourists on October 2 for the 2022-23 season.

Kaziranga National Park is one of the most sought after wildlife holiday destinations in India.

It is home to over 2400 one-horned rhinos, which is 2/3 of the total one-horned rhino population.

The park is also home to many breeding elephants, wild water buffalo, and swamp deer.

Located at the eastern edge of Himalayan biodiversity, Kaziranga National Park combines high species diversity and landscape.
