Assam’s fight against corruption is in full swing. The Assam government led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has intensified its efforts to root out corruption to ensure transparency in governance.
As part of the renewed fight against corruption, the Assam Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Directorate has launched several helpline numbers to register complaints related to bribery.
As the general public is informed, they can sue any government official or other employee who seeks a bribe to settle matters.

The available data clearly shows the commitment of the Himanta Biswa Sarma government towards tightening the flow around drug cartels. Since January 1 to October 29 this year, 101 cases have been registered against corrupt government officials resulting in the arrest of 115 corrupt government employees.
It may be mentioned that the number of cases registered and the maximum number of corrupt officials arrested in bribery cases is the highest this year since Himanta Biswa Sarma government came to power in 2019.
Earlier, 13 corrupt officials were arrested in 2021, 18 in 2020, 16 in 2019, 22 in 2018 and 11 in 2017.
