The Assam government’s decision to promote “tainted” APS officers passed in 2013 has sparked widespread reactions on social media.

Many social media users have questioned why Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who speaks of a zero-tolerance policy against vaccination, is “rewarding” the 13 officers who ‘cheated’. ‘ instead of taking action.

“The commission of inquiry submitted its report in April this year. For more than seven months now, the Assam government is sitting on the report without any action against the ‘errant’ officers of APS,” said a Twitter user.

The Justice (retired) Biplab Kumar Sharma Commission, set up on the instructions of the Gauhati High Court, submitted its report in April this year on the flaws in the CCE-2013.

The Assam government has constituted a five-member committee to examine the inquiry committee report related to the malpractice in CCE-2013 by APSC.

The committee has been asked to examine the report of the inquiry committee and recommend that all the results of CCE-2013 be set aside and if such recommendation is made, whether the candidates will be entitled to notice and subsequent hearings in accordance with the basic principles. of nature. justice.

The committee has been asked to submit its report within two months. However, it has not submitted its recommendations even after five months.

The APSC recruitment scam came to light in 2016 when several successful candidates including Assam Civil Service (ACS) and Assam Police Service (APS) who appeared in CCE, 2013 were accused of misconduct. with the help of then APSC chairman Rakesh Paul.

After the demonstration, police arrested 60 ACS & APS officers from CCE, 2013 batch.

After irregularities were discovered, 39 officers were also dismissed. While the suspended officers are out on bail, Rakesh Paul, who was arrested in 2016, remains behind bars.
