Guwahati: The Assam Cabinet on Saturday issued new regulations related to wood-based industries in the state and took steps to implement the second phase of the flagging scheme.
In a cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Assam Wood Based Industries (Development and Promotion) Regulations 2022 were issued to encourage various sectors related to the sector.
According to the cabinet decisions shared by Sarma on Twitter, wood-based industries will be classified as primary, secondary and industrial for regulatory purposes.
In the second phase of ‘Mission Basundhara’, the state government has approved various measures to facilitate the process of distribution of land to the rightful people across the state, said a statement issued by the Cabinet.
The Mission Basundhara project provides land related services such as conversion, updating of records and delivery of these services to people at their homes.
The government has also approved the Land Policy Amendment, 2019 to promote the Basundhara Mission, it added.
For the rollout of the second phase of the flagship scheme, the state government has allocated Rs 328.19 crore, the statement said.
