Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the family members can go to the police to review the cases if they are not satisfied with the outcome of the criminal cases. People can contact the Inspector General of Police to re-investigate a case especially when there are gray areas.

The review of the cases was prompted by the fact that Sarma in August this year asked the police to review the case of the murder of a child in Darrang district and the case was handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Assam police.

He added, “In future such cases the SP and DIG will go to the spot and will not close the case until they are satisfied.”

He added, “If the official has such complaints or feels that further investigation should be done, he can contact the Inspector General of Police. Even cases that happened 15 years ago can be prosecuted because There is no time limit in criminal cases.”

He added, “This kind of POCSO situation is there and IPC is there. However, we will come up with SOP, if there are any changes in some rules we will do it. ”
