Guwahati, Nov 11 (IANS): Assam Police will reopen all cases related to unusual deaths in the state during the past one year, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Friday.

“In the recent meeting with the police commanders, I ordered to review the similar cases of unusual death that the police or the court closed by describing those cases as suicides,” he said.

In addition, unusual deaths in accidents and homicides will also be reviewed by the police.

“From now on, before closing the cases of unnatural death, SP and DIG will join the investigation,” Sarma added.
