Karimganj, November 12: A shocking incident has come to light in Nilambazar where a man is said to have raped a minor girl. The suspect later attacked two police officers who went to arrest him. He was later arrested on charges of rape and molesting government officials.
According to the report he published Hindustan TimesThe accused, aged 40, allegedly raped a minor girl in Karimganj’s Nilambazar on Wednesday. He allegedly forced his way into the victim’s home and committed the crime. The victim’s family filed an FIR on the same day. Based on the FIR, two policemen went to arrest the accused but were attacked instead. The police are being treated at a hospital. The additional SP of Karimganj, in a statement said, “At around 7 pm, our officials went to investigate and managed to arrest him, but he attacked and both of them were injured. . The suspect was arrested later.” Two cases have been registered at Nilambazar police station. Earlier it was under 448, 354A, and 325 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO). The second case was registered under sections 332, 353, and 34 of the IPC after he assaulted the police officers. According to reports, the victim is currently undergoing mandatory tests. After that, her statement will be recorded as part of the investigation. On the other hand, the accused was brought before a court in the country and sent to prison.
