Assam government will closely monitor private madrasas. Assam government is concerned about Bangladeshi citizens and jihadist links in private madrassas. The government of Assam maintains about 2,500 private madrasas. According to a report, the government suspects that the citizens of Bangladesh are interfering with them and jihad activities are also carried out in these madrasas.
This was decided in a meeting held on Wednesday between DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, Regional Director of Higher Education Mama Hojai and 5 members of Madrasa Education Committee.
How will madrasas be monitored?
The government has prepared a special plan to protect madrassas. Now if a non-state person is given a job in a private madrasa, then permission must be taken from the police.
Appointments will not be accepted without police confirmation. The distance between the two madrasas should be at least 3 km. There must be at least 100 students enrolled in these madrasas.
The private madrasas are required to submit their details on December 1. The management of the private madrasas said that they accepted the government’s request but did not want the government to influence the educational process of the madrasas.
What is the relationship with the police?
Assam police said that no veteran will be allowed to take shelter in any madrasa. Jihad education will not be promoted in the name of religious education. The police said that since 2016, a total of 84 jihadists have been arrested.
