“So, the government has taken steps to establish 15 new colleges in addition to the nine new colleges, among the 15 new colleges, 7 medical colleges are being established in Nalbari, Nagaon, Kokrajhar, Tinsukia, Charideo, Biswanath Chariali. , and the second Medical College in Guwahati. The government will start construction of five more medical colleges in Golaghat, Bongaigaon, Marigaon, Tamulpur, and Dhemaji during this month, and is working on three more proposed medical colleges in Sivasagar, Karimganj and Goalpara soon. will be taken up, in the next five years, Assam will have a total of 24 Medical Colleges, which will greatly improve the availability of doctors and healthcare in the state,” said the Chief Minister of Assam.
The Chief Minister of Assam on Friday also said that, with the increase in medical colleges in the state, the number of MBBS seats has also increased from 726 in 2014 to 1200 in 2022.

“Until 2014 the total number of Post Graduate (PG) seats in Assam was 395. By 2022 the total number of PG seats has increased to 711. The availability of doctors has thus improved. Also, 44 ​​specialized seats are available now. can access various institutes. Further, when the construction of the proposed medical colleges is completed, the state will have 2700 MBBS seats, which will greatly improve the opportunity of medical education in Assam,” said Sarma.
MoU for infrastructure development of second medical college in Guwahati between Government of Assam and Bright Star Investments Pvt. Ltd. was signed at a ceremony at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati on Friday in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The Chief Minister of Assam was very happy with the confidence that the signing of the MoU has ushered in a new beginning for Assam.
