The arrested person is a juvenile, two people familiar with the matter said. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing and they were not authorized to discuss the case publicly.

Police said two men approached Robinson after he came out of a storefront in the 1000 block of H Street NE on Aug. 28 just before 6 p.m. Police said the player was able to “wrestle a gun” from one of the two male attackers. The other shot him.

Robinson, who suffered lower-body injuries, was released from the hospital the day after the shooting and has since resumed playing for the team.

D.C. Police Chief Robert J. Conti III said the attackers were between 15 and 17 years old. A gun was recovered south of the shooting, police said. Prince George’s County police said the stolen vehicle the duo used to flee the scene was recovered four miles from FedEx Field.

After the shooting, Commanders coach Ron Rivera said he “felt the anger rising” about Robinson’s situation and gun violence in the United States. Wearing a “Wear Orange” t-shirt to support the gun-violence-prevention movement, he urged more discussion about gun safety.

Mayor Muriel E. Bowser (D) said, “All we’ve seen in this case and others is reckless use of a firearm that hurts someone.”

Robinson’s shooting brought renewed attention to D.C.’s troubled gun violence and efforts by city leaders to crack down on crime in three nightlife areas, including the H Street corridor, which is lined with popular restaurants and bars.
