Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated North-East India’s largest ever cold storage facility at Chaygaon.

The cold storage facility will have a 5,000-MT. The Assam CM also inaugurated a fruit processing center at Panery. The Assam CM also inaugurated a fruit processing center at Panery. Speaking on the occasion, Sarma said, “The inauguration of a 5,000-MT capacity cold storage facility at Chaygaon and a fruit processing facility at Panery marks a new chapter in Assam’s agriculture sector.”

The CM praised the owner of Bhogali Jalpan Ajit Sarma Baruah and his wife Anjali Sarma Baruah for coming forward to set up the facility at Rs 2.89 crore for the Panery.

The Assam CM also emphasized the cultivation of high value trees like sal, agar, teak, etc., at home for economic benefits. The city is located on National Highway 17 and is connected to nearby towns and cities with buses and other forms of transportation. It also has a railway station at Dhoobargaon. The international airport is just 25 km from Chaygaon.
