Guwahati (Assam) [India]November 3 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired a high-level meeting with district magistrates and Superintendents of Police (SPs) on Wednesday.
The purpose of this one-day meeting was to bring together the administration and the community by strengthening welfare plans and strengthening cooperation between the administration and the police.
“We had a marathon meeting that lasted 14 hours (from 10:30 am to 1:15 am) with DCs & SPs of AACS where we discussed various ways to bring public administration closer to the people by enhancing welfare efforts and steps are needed to further reform the law and order system in the state,” the Assam CM said on Twitter.
Sarma further said that the district’s achievements in the fight against drugs, crime reduction, use of technology, measures to modernize the police, etc.
“In our meeting we covered issues related to the 400th birth anniversary of Lachit Barphukan, Mission Baundhara 2.0, and more,” Sarma said.
Notably, the Assam Government is planning to hold the 400th birth anniversary celebrations of Ahom General Lachit Barphukan in the national capital.
A two-day event will be held at Vigyan Bhawan to commemorate the life of one of the great warriors of eastern India who defeated the dreaded Mughals in the great battle of Saraighat, the Assam government said earlier.
The government aims to promote the national reputation of the great warrior who is not known in other parts of the country, added the Assam government.
To make the program a success in the national capital on 23 and 24 November, a series of programs have been organized under the guidance of the great Ahom General.
Mission Basundhara was launched in Assam on October 2 last year to streamline land revenue services and make it easier for people to get their jobs related to land. The system marked its closure in May.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that eight lakh applications related to the revenue department have been resolved under ‘Mission Baundhara’.
“With today’s latest case of Basanti Das (Guwahati North) who has been working from pillar to post for the past 18 years to get her petitions settled before launching this scheme, all 8,13,981 petitions have been received under Mission Basundhara has been dropped, we all know that the issues related to land are very complicated, so all the requests received cannot be resolved in this phase of the mission (Basundhara) so, in the next few months, we will do it once again enter those unsolved cases in the Mission Basundhara portal and see if there are ways we can conclude some, if not all, Dr Sarma said, referring to the unsolved cases under the closing ceremony process.
