Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday asked the people of Assam to light clay lamps in their homes on the occasion of Lachit Diwas on November 24.

Addressing the media at Assam House here after coming out of a review meeting on preparations for the upcoming 400th anniversary celebrations of Lachit Barphukan, Chief Minister Sarma urged the people of the state to light clay lamps. of their homes on the occasion of the 400th birth anniversary of a great warrior on Lachit Diwas on November 24.

The minister said that it will be held on November 18 in Assam, and the national capital will be held from November 23 to 25.

Sarma announced that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will inaugurate the exhibition on November 23 with Home Minister Amit Shah as the chief guest on November 24 and Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the valedictory function on November 25.

A book on Lachit Barphukan will be launched and a documentary on the great warrior will also be screened at Vigyan Bhawan.

The Chief Minister also announced that Union Minister Kiren Rijiju will inaugurate a cultural program at Sunder Park on November 23.

Earlier, the minister observed the preparations for the upcoming event in the nation’s capital with ministers, parliamentarians and senior officials.

Sarma said that efforts are being made to maintain the sacred memory of the great warrior at home and abroad. He said that the plan is to hold Lachit Diwas programs in other parts of the country.

He said that the Commander of the Armed Forces of the country will ask him to give a memorial lecture, and to give an award to the great fighter, and every year the best students will be awarded. Moreover, the Chief Minister said that he will request NCERT to include a chapter on the famous fighter.

The Prime Minister has asked the authorities to ensure that there is no disruption to the smooth running of the event in Delhi. transportation, catering, media and advertising, venue management and decoration. , exhibition committee, culture committee, seminar committee, open session committee, health committee, Ahom culture picture, etc. on various important issues.

He asked the Chief Secretary to send more officers to Delhi so that every invitee from Assam is taken care of throughout their stay in Delhi. Help desks will be set up at the train station and airport. The control room has also been set up for the Assam House for the smooth running of the event.

The meeting was attended by Keshav Mahanta, UG Brahma, Ajanta Neog, Pijush Hazarika, Jayanta Malla Baruah, Nandita Garlosa, many MPs and senior officials.
