San Francisco – November 9, 2022 – Cooley was honored along with many other attorneys by The Recorder with its California Law Awards.
Cooley partner Calise Cheng was named Lawyer of the Year – the publication’s first individual award. In a published statement, Cheng was praised by a client who said: “Calise is an expert in her field. She is creative, strategic, flexible in her approach, a reliable consultant and very attentive to the needs of his clients. He sees corners and inspires confidence. Above all, he is a joy to work with.
The publication also named partners Jamie Leigh and Christa Anderson among Women Leaders in Technology Law. In addition, the firm received The Recorder’s first On the Radar – Litigation award in the consumer class action defense category.
In her published interview, Leigh gave a guide for women starting out in tech law: “Success in any endeavor comes from a sustainable perspective. Increase your strength in unique ways that will bring you closer to your vision – one step at a time.”
Anderson also offered advice to women starting out in tech law in her Q&A post: “There’s still a lot of work to do to ensure that the tech law profession is truly diverse. My advice? Don’t be upset by this lack of diversity; let him be motivated to get involved and change things. Jump into the field and help make things better for the young people who follow you. It is an important area of law.”
