Guwahati: Policemen in Assam may lose their jobs if found drunk during duty hours, warned state DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta.
He said that new rules will be issued to check the mistakes made by the police forces who do not work honestly.
Mahanta also said that the regional administration was working to quickly solve various problems faced by the police. Among the infrastructure, lack of houses, and so on, he said, “The president as soon as he was told that he was allocated to build 1,000 houses for the police, he prepared them. In addition, he was also discussed in detail about various issues such as fighting cybercrime, working for the benefits of people’s lives, etc.”
The top official said that the police are friendly with the public. “Even people should not be called to the police station for minor issues instead of police personnel visiting their homes to provide services,” he said.
“In Assam, we have decided to do away with minor cases to reduce the burden on the judiciary and the police should also work with this decision,” added the DGP.
Mahanta thanked the Chief Minister for his attention to the problems faced by the police department. He said that the Police Force will work tirelessly for the development of the State.
