Guwahati, November 4: Assam police may lose their jobs if found drunk during duty hours, warned state DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta.
He said that new rules will be issued to check the mistakes made by the police forces who do not work honestly.
Mahanta also said that the regional administration was working to quickly solve various problems faced by the police. The top official said that the police are friendly with the public. “Even people should not be called to the police station for minor issues instead of police officers visiting their homes to provide services,” he said.
“In Assam, we have decided to do away with minor cases to reduce the burden on the judiciary and the police should also work with this decision,” added the DGP.
Mahanta thanked the Chief Minister for his attention to the problems faced by the police department. He said that the Police Force will work tirelessly for the development of the State.
