The spouse is a beneficiary of the Small Investment Incentive and Relief Scheme. But what surprised the whole couple was the value of the check which was only Rs.1!

Checks for the Small Investment Promotion and Relief Scheme of the Government of Assam are distributed at Gandhi Maidan in Bongaigaon district of Assam on November 6, 2022. Expressing their grief, Rejaul Ali and his wife Tajmina Khatun said they had to pay a total of Rs. 400 to reach the venue and another Rs. 650 to get a bank clearance certificate only to get a check worth Rs.1. They also had to pay Rs.1000 as a break. In total the couple spent Rs.2050 to travel till they collected the small amount of Rs.1. “Isn’t it mockery and harassment by the government,” said Rejaul Ali while talking to the media.

The couple told the media that they returned the check and asked the state government to compensate them for the losses.
