JORDAN TOWNSHIP — A shooter has been found justified in the fatal shooting of three people Nov. 5 near Unityville in eastern Lycoming County.
In a preliminary finding pending a final report, District Attorney Ryan C. Gardner said the troopers were justified in shooting Brian Taylor, 54, even though the troopers remain on administrative leave per department policy, PennLive.com reported.
The shooting happened after Taylor killed his wife, Linda, 60, at their home off Route 118. and his sister, Andrea J. (Taylor) Meek, 52; Jerry Zehing, 55, from Lebanon, said PennLive.
Police said Sehring was killed shortly after returning to a cabin off Route 239 from an archery deer hunt.
It remains unknown what motivated Taylor to go on a shooting spree in which he randomly fired shots at houses and passing vehicles with a semi-automatic rifle.
Coroner Charles E. Keesling Jr. said toxicology tests were performed on Taylor, but he did not expect her to return for months.
Soldiers from Bloomsburg responded to the gunfire because they were closer than Montoursville.
Meek graduated from Hughesville High School in 1988 and worked as a property coordinator for the Red Rock Job Corps, PennLive reported.
