Flagler County, Fla. – A 12-year-old girl was arrested in Flagler County on Wednesday after deputies say she sent threats via Snapchat to carry out a mass shooting at her middle school.
According to the sheriff’s office, the sixth grader at Indian Trails Middle School had been sending messages to fellow students via the social media app a day earlier.

The sheriff’s office said the parent of one of the students who received the message “kill people and shoot up the school” notified authorities.
A description shows the girl tried to buy a gun from another juvenile. Deputies said they went to her Palm Coast home and asked to speak with her. Deputies said her parents talked to their daughter about being honest when she initially said “no” and she agreed.
The sheriff’s office said her parents told deputies she had come to them several months ago about suicidal tendencies, but she had yet to meet with a therapist.
News 6 is not naming the suspect due to his age. She faces one count of making a written threat to commit a mass shooting.
