All schools and colleges in Diphu in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district have been asked to remain closed for the next week due to an outbreak of dengue in the town, an order said on Sunday.

Karbi Anglong district is the worst

A statement from the National Health Mission (NHM) said that of the 285 dengue cases reported in the state between November 1 and 5, 271 were from Karbi Anglong district.

Preventive measures have been initiated against the “next health”, said the order, announcing the closure of all educational institutions in Diphu district and Diphu Town areas from Monday to Saturday.

Kamrup Metropolitan reported eight cases, two in Nalbari and one each in Charideo, Kamrup (Rural), Nagaon and Hojai districts.

NHM-Assam Mission Director MS Lakshmi Priya visited the affected areas of Karbi Anglong on Sunday to assess the situation and provide necessary support to the district team to control the outbreak.

“The situation in Karbi Anglong is being monitored and all preventive measures are being taken to combat the situation,” the NHM statement said.
