The Fort Dodge Police Department is investigating a shooting near downtown Wednesday morning.
According to a press release from the department, just before noon Wednesday, gunfire was reported between two trucks in the area of First Avenue North and North Sixth Street. However, responding officers quickly learned that the incident had actually occurred in the 300 block of North Seventh Street. No injuries were reported, but a victim, witnesses and physical evidence were found in the area.
FDPD is continuing to follow up on this incident and encourages any homeowners or businesses in the area with video footage to contact law enforcement. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers by texting LEC to 274637.
