Mohilary said that the BJP in Assam has chosen to be friends with the United People’s Liberal Party (UPPL) led by Pramod Boro in 2020 despite his efforts to form a pre-poll alliance with the BJP.

In January this year, BJP’s ally BPF returned as BJP’s partner in the state assembly.

BJP along with UPPL is ruling the BTC sixth schedule assembly.

The BPF had three ministers in the Assam cabinet in the first BJP-led government led by former chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

The Bodoland Territorial region of western Assam comprises the five districts of Tamulpur, Chirang, Baksa, Udalguri and Kokrajhar, bordering Bhutan and West Bengal.
