GOLDSBORO, NC (WITN) – A Goldsboro man has been charged with murder nearly two months after another man was killed in a shooting.
The Goldsboro Police Department says Shadell Barksdale, 32, has been charged with open murder and misdemeanor probation violation.
On Sept. 8 at 6:10 p.m., police say officers were dispatched to UNC Health Wayne for a report of a shooting. Rakeem Holloway of Goldsboro was taken to the hospital from an unknown location. He suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead while officers searched.
905 S. Investigators said the shooting happened on Slocumbe Street at 5:55 p.m.
WITN is told four days later a warrant was obtained for Barksdale’s murder. However, at 8 a.m. on Thursday S. Officers took him into custody in the 600 block of Clairborne Street. US Marshals assisted in the arrest.
Police say Barksdale was not given bond on the murder charge and a $5,000 secured bond on the probation violation. The first court appearance is Friday at 9 a.m
