Guwahati, Nov 15: The Assam government on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore with an aim to bring about transformative changes in health, education, women, and child development in the state, said Mas. Officials.
The MoU was signed under the two-year Chief Minister’s Young Professionals Program (CMYPP) which will start next year.
The state government aims to develop a cadre of dedicated and capable leaders and facilitators to support the government’s administration of this program.
CMYPP is designed to provide short-term proactive support to district administrations to improve program delivery in identified sectors such as health, education, women, and child development.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma who spoke at the event said that the agreement will contribute a lot to the overall development of the government, as for the first time a new system of this kind has been created to support the district administration to improve the delivery of the program. the parts.
“Our government is engaged in building a strong local system in terms of administration and management, in order to benefit from the continuous growth of the government, we are looking to build a sustainable administration that starts at the district level,” he said. he added.
A senior government official said that a total of 75 professionals will form the cohort of the Chief Minister’s Young Professionals Program (CMYPP). Two professionals will be distributed to each of the 35 districts, and five experts will work at the regional headquarters.
A competitive entry process will be followed to identify this group.
Eligibility for admission to CMYPP will be a Master’s degree in social science, social work, public health policy, public administration, law, economics, or management. The entrance test will be conducted by IIM Bangalore which will be a combination of aptitude, group discussion, and interviews.
CMYPP is designed to support the district administration in the implementation of priority departments such as NHM, RMSA, SSA, POSHAN, and other government flagship programs.
Director of IIM Bangalore Prof. Rishikesha T Krishnan, Assam Chief Secretary Paban Kumar Borthakur and senior government officials were present on the occasion.
