Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma released the theme song to commemorate the 400th birth anniversary of the legendary general of Assam Lachit Barphukan event. The theme song is composed by famous singer Zubin Garg.

The minister said that the theme of this song is to honor the bravery and sacrifice of Mahabir Lachit Barphukan and a step towards spreading the importance of celebrating Lachit Divas and the emotions associated with it at every level. He hoped that the song would boost the patriotic fervor of the people and help promote the ideals of Lachit Barphukan in the younger generation.

The minister also gave a detailed report on the programs of the state government to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the birth of the Ahom General from November 18 to 25. , Indian Army, Paramilitary Forces, Indian Navy and Air Force personnel and NCC cadets of each district. On November 19, an essay competition will be held in educational institutions in the region.

The chief minister said that the state government has taken efforts to beautify Lachit Barphukan’s maidam at Holongapar in Jorhat and convert it into a tourist attraction. The regional administration will also officially take over on November 20 50 lands belonging to the local residents, saying that the regional administration will pay Rs. 12 crore to thank the local people who donated the land.

Sarma said the grand project which will cost Rs 160 crore will include a 150 feet tall bronze statue of Lachit Barphukan, auditorium, guest house, amphitheater and light & sound show. He also informed that the state administration has taken steps to protect the memory of the Alaboi war and part of it is that a 30 meter tall tree will be built at the memorial site to honor the sacrifices of the Assamese soldiers. In addition, there will be a museum, gallery, audio-visual gallery, exhibition hall etc.

The minister said that the central program of the 400th birth anniversary of Lachit Barphukan will be held from November 23 to 25 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. A seminar on the golden age of the Ahom dynasty will be held on November 23, and on the same day, an art exhibition will be held in New Delhi where various artefacts from the Assam State Museum will be displayed.

A cultural evening will also be held in New Delhi on the same day. Another seminar will be held on the morning of November 24. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend the afternoon session. A documentary based on the life of Lachit Barphukan will be launched at the event.

The Prime Minister also said that the state government will also take steps to broadcast the documentary on various electronic media in the next phase to spread the bravery of the great general in India and abroad. He also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the closing ceremony of Lachit Barphukan’s 400th birth anniversary on November 25.

Prime Minister Modi will address the intellectuals of the country, several members of the Cabinet, MPs and delegates from Assam. He said that the Prime Minister’s speech will be delivered at the district level and in various educational institutions in the region. The minister also said that history will be introduced as a subject in the regional curriculum from April 1 next year.
