KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Several people left the Kissimmee Village Good Samaritan Community because of flooding from Ian and questions about their lives.
Legal Services of North Florida brought their Legal Aid RV to help senior living community residents.

The bus came from a disaster fund after Hurricane Michael hit the Panhandle.
Charlotte Waters with Legal Services of North Florida said, “The only way we can help people is to bring our offices to them through a teleportation like this.”
The legal aid bus was parked outside the Red Lion Hotel where many of the residents who were forced to leave the Good Samaritan were staying temporarily.
There are two separate office areas on the bus where lawyers work and people who reach out for help.
According to Attorney Jeffrey Hussey, about 100 residents have reached out to Community Legal Services of Mid-Florida for help, and he has been able to work closely with providing them with free help.
“It’s been almost a month out from the storm at this point, and many residents of the Samaritan Community still haven’t had their questions answered,” Hussey said.
Spectrum News 13 received the following statement from Aimee Middleton, Good Samaritan’s Vice President of Community Operations:
“We are working with residents to get help and resources through FEMA, the Red Cross and other agencies. We are also talking to residents about assistance programs such as Transitional Shelter Assistance, which allows people to book hotel accommodations.”
