Limestone Co. husband charged with murder for shooting his wife | Media Pyro

Limestone Co., Ala. (WAFF) – A Limestone County man has been charged with murder after allegedly fatally shooting his estranged wife Saturday night.

According to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, Vernon Allred was found hiding near the scene of the alleged murder Saturday around 10 p.m.

Deputies with the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office were called to the 14000 block of Chris Way around 10 p.m. Saturday about a possible shooting. A witness took the victim, Tracy Allred, to Athens-Limestone Hospital before arriving at the scene.

While at the hospital, Tracy Allred died.

Deputies found the shooter fled the scene, but were able to identify him as Vernon Allred. Later, he was found near the scene with a gun.

Vernon Allred was taken into custody without further incident and booked into the Limestone County Detention Center.
