Acer, a technology company popular for its laptops, desktops and computer accessories, will sell PlayStation video game brand products in the Philippines.
Sony Interactive Entertainment Singapore (SIES), widely known in the field of interactive and digital entertainment, has named Acer Global Merchandise Philippines Inc. (CGB) as its sole distributor partner here. CGB is part of the Philippine office of the Acer Group.
In a recent statement, the CCB said it was authorized to sell the following products through its retail channels: PlayStation 5 consoles, PlayStation 4 consoles, PlayStation accessories and physical versions of the game software distributed by SIES.
“PlayStation is already a very popular gaming platform in the Philippines and we are very happy to expand the market further,” said CGB business operations manager Anjelo Paguntalan.
According to Sony’s consolidated financial report, it sold 5.7 million units of PlayStation 5 worldwide in the first half, higher than the 5.6 million units it shipped in the same period last year.
The CCB said the partnership was expected to result in “an improved distribution approach focusing on channel and market management for SIES products”.
The enterprise is seen to be contributing to the distribution of AGM gaming devices.
“The public can be assured that CGB will bring to this partnership the same level of excellence that Acer is known for,” said CGB board director Sue Ong Lim.
In January, Acer opened a flagship store in SM Megamall Cyberzone.
