BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Birmingham Police are investigating a shooting on Oporto Madrid Boulevard on Nov. 7 at 8:46 p.m.
Police said they identified Masin Othman, 40, of Hoover, Alabama.
Birmingham 911 received a shot spotter notification of shots fired in the area of 125 Oporto Madrid Boulevard. A Chevron is located at that address. Minutes later, a community member called 911 to say a man had been shot at the location.
Officers arrived and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and treated the injured man at UAB Hospital.
Community members provided information that led investigators to believe Othman, a Chevron employee, was the shooter. Othman was taken into custody for investigation.
Birmingham police detectives obtained arrest warrants for second-degree assault and discharging into an occupied dwelling, with a total bond amount of $45,000.
Mazin Othman has been released from the Jefferson County Jail on bond.
