Chandler, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — Chandler police say one person is dead after a double shooting at the Casa Del Sol apartment complex near Pecos Road and Arizona Avenue earlier this week.
According to officials, the gunshots rang out around 2:30 pm on Wednesday. When police arrived, they found two people inside an apartment with gunshot wounds. The injured were admitted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. On Thursday, police confirmed that a 21-year-old man died of his injuries in hospital. A second victim, described by police as a 19-year-old woman, remains in critical condition.
According to eyewitnesses, the accused fled the apartment after the shooting but were soon found. One suspect, 27-year-old Corey William Sandusky, Jr., was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on multiple charges including aggravated assault, first-degree robbery and criminal possession of a weapon. Police add that some of these charges stem from a second crime in which Sandusky forced his way into a home while fleeing a shooting.
The second suspect has not been identified, but was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant while detectives work to determine if he was involved in the shooting. The investigation is still ongoing.
