MURRAY, Utah – One person is dead and another is in critical condition after a shooting at a Murray gas station early Friday morning.
Police said they were alerted to a shooting in the parking lot of the 7-11 located at 4051 South State Street. The incident took place before 12.30 am
When officers arrived, they found a man in the parking lot with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital in “very critical condition,” explained Sgt. Melody Cutter with the Unified Police Department.
Another man was picked up at the scene, loaded into a vehicle and taken to a hospital, where he died, Sgt. Cutler said.
Officials are still piecing together the pieces of what led up to the shooting.
“All we know at this time is that there were two groups of males here at the 7-11,” Sgt. Cutler said. “There was some type of dispute in the parking lot and multiple shots were fired.”
Cutler explained that one of the challenges in the investigation was the lack of witnesses given the time of night.
No one was immediately taken into custody following the shooting, and police are trying to track down surveillance video that could help identify how many vehicles and people were involved.
