Philadelphia (WPVI) — Philadelphia police are investigating two shootings Sunday night where many questions remain as they search for those responsible.
One was killed and the other remains in critical condition after the two were shot in the head in the 8300 block of Busselton Avenue in the city’s Roanhurst neighborhood around 8 p.m.
The victims were found inside a dark-colored Nissan Altima that had crashed into a fire hydrant and utility pole at the corner of Bustleton and Straley Streets near Castor Avenue.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Another was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital in critical condition.
Police believe the victims were shot from the driver’s side of the car earlier in the crash but drove down Bustleton before hitting the hydrant.
“We don’t know where this shooting happened. It clearly didn’t happen here. We’ve been going up and down Bustleton trying to find any type of crime or spent shell casings. So far we’ve been unsuccessful,” said Philadelphia Police Inspector DF Pace.
Police are also trying to piece together how another shooting happened in the Tioga-Nicetown section of the city.
It happened in the 3700 block of North 15th Street around 9:30 p.m.
A 61-year-old man was shot in the chest and hip after bullets flew through the front window of his home around 9:30 p.m.
The bullets were fired from the street, but police are not yet sure if the victim was killed by a gunshot.
He was admitted to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.
