Police from Bassetta, Champion and Cortland were called to a home in the 2900 block of North Park Avenue between state Route 305 and Johnson Plank Road in Bassetta on Wednesday evening after reports of shots fired. Police found a man dead from a gunshot wound in the backyard. The Trumbull County Coroner was also called to the scene. A section of the road was closed for several hours while the investigation took place.
