The CID also arrested three doctors from the government hospital who were accused of giving false information regarding the death of the little girl. Speaking further, Saikia said that the arrested doctors were brought before the court and sent to jail for two days.
The arrested police officer will appear in court on November 8.
“In view of the lapse in investigation at Dhula PS, the Chief Minister of Assam after visiting the victim’s house ordered the case to be transferred to CID, Assam for a thorough and detailed investigation. Therefore, on August 12, the case was transferred to the CID, and a daily investigation was conducted under the direct supervision of senior officers, and sufficient evidence was brought to prove the crimes of violations, murder, destruction of evidence, attempts . of rape under IPC and sexual harassment of a minor under the POCSO Act,” Saikia said.
During the investigation, the CID exhumed the body, a second post-mortem was conducted, a panel of medical experts was consulted and the DNA test of the main accused was carried out, which matched the fluid on the girl’s clothes. the victim, he said.
“Accordingly, a detailed charge sheet was filed on September 25 against the main accused, Krishna Kamal Baruah, who is currently in judicial custody,” he added.
