With more than 270 dengue cases detected in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district in the last five days, preventive measures have been initiated for ‘next health’, an official order said on Sunday.
Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) has announced that all schools and colleges under Diphu district administration and Greater Diphu Town area of Karbi Anglong district of Assam will remain closed for five days this month.
A release from the National Health Mission (NHM), Assam, said that of the 285 dengue cases reported in the state between November 1 and 5, 271 were from Karbi Anglong district.
NHM-Assam Mission Director, MS Lakshmi Priya, along with other officials, visited the affected areas of Karbi Anglong yesterday to assess the situation and provide assistance. district team to control this disease.
“The situation in Karbi Anglong is being monitored and all preventive measures are being taken to combat the situation,” NHM said in a release.
The order issued by the general secretary of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Assembly said, “In view of the alarming situation of dengue cases and how to prevent the epidemic, therefore all public and private educational institutions, etc. from schools unofficial. (Anganwadi) colleges falling within Diphu Municipal Board and Greater Diphu Town area, will be closed from November 7, 9, 10, 11 and 12.”
With increasing cases of dengue, as many as three people have died in Diphu and more than 20 people are currently undergoing treatment in government hospitals in the hill district.
In view of the outbreak of dengue cases reported in some districts of Assam, proactive steps have been taken under the leadership of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Health Minister Keshab Mahanta.
It is worth noting that Dengue treatment is free in all government hospitals and government medical colleges and hospitals.
