SALISBURY, NC — Police are investigating a shooting that left two people, including a 14-year-old, injured in a Salisbury neighborhood Sunday morning.

The incident happened on Messner Street between W Hora and W Monroe. Several vehicles and houses were damaged in the bullets. Neighbor Michael Miller said his truck was hit by several rounds, some of which hit his tires and radiator.

“I was in bed about 1:30 and heard all kinds of noises … thought it was some fireworks, and then I said to my old lady, ‘Those aren’t fireworks, they’re gunshots. Get on the ground.’ So we got on the floor. After that, I opened the door and saw all kinds of cops here,” Miller said.

Channel 9’s veteran crime reporter Glenn Counts spoke with the family of the 14-year-old victim. She said she was hit on the neck during the shooting. Doctors were worried the injury would cripple him, but he can still move his fingers and toes, which is a good sign.

At this time, we have no information about the other victim. Salisbury Police have launched an investigation to find the person responsible.
