Steph Curry is on pace to break the actual shooting record for the 2022-23 season | Media Pyro

The only player to break Steph Curry’s records is Steph Curry, and the Warriors’ superstar is on pace to break his original shooting record from 2018.

After scoring 50 points on 17-of-28 shooting from the field and 7-of-11 from 3-point range in the Warriors’ 130-119 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday at the Footprint Center, Curry upped his true shooting percentage. He shot 70.1 percent this season, nearly four points higher than the NBA record (average of 20-or-more points-per-game in a season) and 67.5 percent in 2018.

Actual shooting percentage is the shooting percentage adjusted for 3-pointers and free throws, and measures a player’s efficiency in shooting the ball.

For context, an elite true shooting percentage is usually above 60 percent. Steph bested that by seven and a half points in 2018 and is on pace to beat that mark this season.

Not only did Curry have an elite true shooting percentage (62.6 percent) during his 14-year NBA career, he exceeded 60 percent in 10 of those seasons.

If Curry has an unbeaten record, he’s likely coming for it. If Curry already has a record, he will look to improve on it.

No record is safe.
