A 26-year-old man accused of fatally shooting a woman at a Yakima hotel made an initial appearance in Yakima County Superior Court on Monday.

On Oct. 21, police found 31-year-old Angela Aguilar dead of gunshot wounds to the face and body at a Yakima inn at 1022 N. First St.

With the help of witnesses, police were able to identify at least two suspects, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Aguilar was found wrapped in a blanket and tied to a futon couch with cords, the affidavit said.

A short-barreled rifle with a suppressor and a magazine cartridge were found nearby, and several firearms were found in a closet, the affidavit said.

A witness told police that Aguilar was cooking in his hotel room when he left. Later, a man called him into another room to resolve the issue with Aguilar, according to the affidavit.

According to the affidavit, another woman who was with the witness also came later.

Four people were in another room with Aguilar. A man who got into an argument with Aguilar forced her to the floor and put her down, gave the other man a gun and told him to kill her, the affidavit said.

The witness told police in an affidavit that he shot her in the face and body.

Another woman was forcibly taken away by the men who threatened to kill the witness if she said anything about the shooting, the affidavit said.

The affidavit did not say what happened to the woman who was taken into custody.

The witness contacted the hotel manager, who called the police. He said in his affidavit that he identified the accused in the photo montage.

According to the affidavit, the police were able to identify the person who rented the room where the shooting took place. Although he said he was not there at the time of the incident, there was a surveillance camera in the room. It is not clear if the video is available.

According to the affidavit, the person who rented the room allowed one of the participants in the shooting to stay there.

The suspect has been charged with first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, hostage-taking for ransom, intimidation and possession of a deadly weapon.
