Teen Arrested in Rally Halloween Shooting That Killed 16-Year-Old, Injured 2 | Media Pyro

Raleigh, NC – A teenager has been taken into custody in connection with a Halloween night shooting in Raleigh that left a Millbrook Magnet High School student dead and two other teens injured.

The Raleigh Police Department said they found the teenager they believe was responsible “through investigative means.”

A secure custody order was issued and the juvenile was taken into custody, the police department said. Charges have not yet been announced due to the teenager’s age. They will be determined in the Juvenile Court.

Police said the investigation into this shooting is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call the police department at 919-996-1193.

According to 911 calls released from the shooting, a teenager who called for help after the shooting said he didn’t know who shot the group of boys trick-or-treating. He said he saw a man run away after shooting the teenagers.

He told 911 dispatchers that he and his friends were unarmed.

The shooting happened at the River Birch apartment complex near the 2700 block of Summer Boulevard.

Xzavion Lawton, 16, was shot in the chest and died, his mother told WRAL News. Lawton was a junior at Millbrook Magnet High School in Raleigh. Three months ago, Lawton’s family moved from Hampton, Virginia, where he played high school football.

“He and a friend grabbed their masks and said, ‘Mom, I’m going trick-or-treating,'” Lawton’s mother, Noelle Hill, said.

Xzavion Lawton, 16, was shot in the chest and died, his mother told WRAL News.  Lawton was a junior at a magnet high school in Raleigh.

Lawton went trick-or-treating with three friends, two of whom were shot, Hill said. The other two boys who were hospitalized are expected to survive, she said. Authorities said one of the child’s injuries was serious.
