A man was hospitalized after being shot Thursday in the same residential block in Zion where a man was shot and killed last weekend, authorities said.
Around 12:25 a.m. Thursday, the Zion Police Department and Zion Fire and Rescue Department responded to the 2100 block of Bethesda Boulevard for a report of a shooting.
Officers arrived to find a man shot and requested paramedics be rushed to the scene.
Paramedics took the victim to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Their condition was unknown, but they survived.
Lt. Paul Kehrley of the Zion Police Department said he did not have much information about the case, but that investigators were not getting much cooperation from the victim.
Last Sunday, the Zion Police Department responded to a few homes, also in the 2100 block of Bethesda Boulevard, for a report of shots fired inside a residence.
Kehrley said officers arrived to find the residence locked around 5:30 p.m.
Officers knocked but got no response from inside.
Kehrley said officers forced open the front door because of a credible report of shots fired and the need to check on the welfare of the occupants.
Desmond McDade, 30, of Zion, was found lying on the ground inside the home.
He had multiple gunshot wounds to his body, wounds that appeared to have been inflicted recently, Kehrley said. No one else was in the residence.
An adult male resident of the residence was later located in Chicago and brought back to the Zion Police Department for questioning, Kehrley said. Charges have not yet been announced.
