BATESVILLE, Ark. (CATE) – Three people were injured in a weekend shooting, but the sheriff said the victims were unwilling to identify the alleged assailant.

The shooting happened on Haney Drive in Batesville on Saturday, November 12 around 9 p.m.

According to the initial incident report, Independence County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of multiple gunshots and screams in the area.

When deputies arrived at the home, they found three people with injuries.

According to reports, one of them was shot in the leg and the other in the waist. The third victim was stabbed in the back of the head.

Deputies administered emergency medical treatment, including applying a tourniquet, until an ambulance arrived.

While waiting for EMTs, deputies questioned two of the men who shot them.

“They declined to release the name of the suspect,” the report said.

A third victim said a man “walked up the driveway and started shooting.”

Also, he won’t name names.

Deputies have identified the suspect, according to the report. However, no one has been arrested.

“Victims are not cooperative and are not coming forward with information,” Sheriff Shawn Stephens said in an email to Region 8 News. “We are trying to investigate this incident, but without cooperation it will be difficult.”
