WATERVLIET, NY – On May 29, 2021, at approximately 10:10 pm, the Watervliet Police Department responded to the 1900 block of Ninth Avenue for a report of shots fired. Officers who arrived at the scene found multiple shell casings in the area. A short time later, officers located the victim with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Through investigation, Watervliet police detectives identified the shooter as Kamora Johnson.
On October 28, 2022, after a 17-month investigation, the U.S. The Marshals Service Violent Felony Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Johnson in the city of Schenectady.
Watervliet police charged Johnson, 20, of Schenectady with attempted murder, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree criminal use of a firearm and first-degree reckless endangerment.
Johnson was arraigned in Watervliet City Court and remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility.
