Chicago (WLS) — At least 23 people were shot and four died in gun violence across Chicago this weekend, police said.

A man was shot and killed early Sunday morning in West Town, police said. At 2:40 a.m., officers were investigating after hearing gunshots, and when they arrived in the 2200 block of West Walnut Street, they saw a man shoot at a man before getting into a gray car and driving away, Chicago police said. The 28-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the back and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. His name has not been released. Three detectives are investigating the area.

A man has died after being shot at a Chicago lawn Saturday night, police said. The man, who appeared to be in his 40s, was shot in the neck and dropped off at Holy Cross Hospital around 9 p.m., where he died a short time later, Chicago police said. The shooting happened in the 6300 block of South Fairfield Avenue, but police said investigators were unable to get additional information from people at the scene. No one is in custody and detectives are investigating.

Hours earlier, a 17-year-old boy was shot in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side, Chicago police said. The teenager was walking in the 5300 block of West Harrison Street around 6:30 p.m. when a man engaged in a conversation and then opened fire, police said. He was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where he was listed in good condition, police said. No arrests have been reported and detectives are investigating.

Two people were injured in a shooting in the heart of Chicago early Saturday morning, police said. At 2:10 a.m., people were standing outside in the 2300 block of South Damon Avenue when they heard multiple gunshots and felt pain, Chicago police said. A 19-year-old man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with gunshot wounds to the leg and hip. Another man, 22, grazed his hip and was taken to the same hospital. Police said both men are in good condition. No arrest recorded. Area four detectives are investigating.

There are new reports of an attempted robbery and fatal shooting in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood on Friday. A relative of the victim who was shot at the family grocery store spoke to ABC7. Investigators said two people, including the accused criminal, were killed as the robbery attempt quickly turned deadly.

A husband and father were killed in a shooting inside his family’s South Shore grocery store Friday night, the Chicago Police Department said. Investigators said it came to light after the 24-year-old robber entered the store around 6:30 Friday night, pulled out a gun and attempted to rob the business.

That’s when Hasan’s relatives say one of two other male family members working at the store, who has a valid gun owner’s ID card and concealed carry license, pulled out his own weapon and shot the armed robber, who shot Ali. Witnesses said the would-be robber ran from the store but collapsed and died on the sidewalk a block away.

Another person in the store was not injured. Police said three guns were recovered from the scene. Two weapons involved in the shooting and another gun behind a store counter. The shooting is still under investigation.

Later Friday night, a teenager was shot in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood, police said. Chicago police said the 16-year-old boy was walking outside in the 7000 block of South Martin Luther King Drive around 9:45 p.m. when someone fired shots from a red SUV. The teenager was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was in stable condition after being shot in the thigh, police said. No one is in custody and detectives are investigating.
