9:09 PM: Two nights after two people were shot in Alki, we have some new information. It emerged in District 1 Community Network Tonight’s meeting, which – as we mentioned in last night’s followup – is usually a South Western Area A representative of the leadership attended. Tonight it was night shift commander Lt. Nathan Shoppe, who was asked about the inquiry by the D1CN attendant. Asked whether the shooting was as random as preliminary information Monday night suggested, Lt. Shopey said it still appears to be, and there may even have been a situation where the shooters missed their mark by targeting someone else. There was “another gang” in the area at the time and that gang “ran away” when the shooting started, he said. He also noted that the two victims were apparently there because they were “Pokémon hunters.” The condition of the victims is not yet known. (The rest of the D1CN meeting focused on port issues, and we’ll have that report separately tomorrow.)
10:22 PM: A commentator notes that a TV story tonight identifies one of the victims. A link to this is also included GoFundMe Page was set up to help cover her expenses.
