HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) – A total of five people were injured in a shooting Wednesday night, according to the Hattiesburg Police Department.
Forrest County Deputy Coroner Lisa Klemm announced two deaths.
They are identified as:
- Ricardo Hollingsworth, 48, of Hattiesburg, died.
- Sherry Strickland, 57, of Hattiesburg, died.
Three other injured people are being treated at a local hospital.
HPD officers responded to a report of shots fired on West Fifth Street just before 7 p.m
When officers arrived, they found several people suffering from gunshot wounds. Several people were taken from the scene to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries.
The investigation is still in its early stages.
The Petal Police Department, Forrest County Sheriff’s Office, Lamar County Sheriff’s Office and the Hattiesburg Special Crimes Unit are reportedly assisting HPD.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
