Guwahati: Delhi and Goa topped the list in terms of Employee Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) coverage, while Assam, Tripura and Meghalaya finished at the bottom of the list.
Delhi and Goa stood at the first and second positions with 61.5 percent and 51.4 percent of their employees, respectively, coming under the social security ambition of the organization, according to the EPFO vision document released on November 1.
Haryana ranks third with 35.3 percent of its workforce under EPFO, followed by Karnataka (29.6 percent) and Uttarakhand (26.7 percent).
EPFO coverage is the lowest in Tripura, Assam, and Meghalaya. EPFO coverage of working people in 15 out of 26 states and Union Territories, for which data is available, is below the national average of 13.5 percent.
In terms of the exact number of people of working age covered by EPFO, Maharashtra leads the chart with 11.9 million EPFO subscribers, followed by Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Recently, Assam along with two other states emerged as the worst performers in rural sanitation parameters.
