2 dead in shooting at Oxon Hill grocery store: Police – NBC4 Washington | Media Pyro

A man and a woman were killed in a shooting Friday morning at a Giant grocery store in Oxon Hill, Maryland, after an attempted robbery turned deadly, police said.

A male security guard confronted a female shopkeeper, who pulled a gun from her bag and fired at the security guard. The man then fired back, police said.

Prince George’s County Police responded at 10:25 a.m. to a shooting at the Giant in the 20 block of Audrey Lane in the Eastover Shopping Center.

The security guard died on the spot. Police said the suspected shoplifter was taken to hospital but later died.

A witness said multiple shots were fired inside the store.

Officers gathered around the grocery store during the investigation. A large portion of the parking lot was blocked off with police tape. Giant is closed to customers while police investigate.
