A Dripping Springs officer-involved shooting has left one person dead | Media Pyro

A man has died after being shot by the Hays County Sheriff on Saturday morning.

On Nov. 5, deputies responded to a disturbance between a man and a wrecker driver in the 1300 block of Trinity Hills in the Belterra subdivision of Dripping Springs, according to the Hays County Sheriff’s Office. A short time later, deputies arrived in the 100 block of Victoria Court for further investigation into a disturbance.

HCSO says when deputies arrived at Victoria Court, the man involved in the Trinity Hills altercation came out of the home with a knife. He ran toward the deputies, one of whom fired several rounds.

A 78-year-old woman in the residence was also shot in the arm. Both were taken to local area hospitals, where 28-year-old John File was pronounced dead at 1:58 a.m. and the woman was treated for her injuries.

According to Hays County Sheriff’s Office policy, the Texas Rangers were called to the scene to assist in an officer-involved shooting.
